It all started In 1999, Tim Kenny challenged friends John Bender and Enda McDonnell to find a way to give back to society. These three reinsurance executives turned their Indsustry St. Patrick's Day party into a benefit for kids with cancer. What could they do to really turn the heads-and open the wallets-of their colleagues? John suggested shaving Enda's head since kids typically lose their hair during cancer treatment. "People will gladly pay to see you bald, Enda!" Never one to miss an opportunity, Enda replied, "I will if you will," and the St.Baldrick's was born. Since the year 2000 over 26,000 shaves-more than 2,000 women-have shaved their heads at 828 St. Baldrick's celebrations!!!! St. Baldrick's is the world biggest event for childhood cancer. It has been featured accross the nation in Newspapers(USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune) On television (Good morning america, ESPN Cold Pizza) and on Hundreds of websites (AOL homepage, Irish Abroad.com firehouse.com Officer.com and now Jina Ink.com) Global events include fundraisers in Asia, South America, Bermuda, and Europe. Childhood cancer kills more children than any other disease- more than AIDS, Asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, and congenital anomalies, combined. Fifty years ago childhood cancer was almost fatal. due to advancements in Diagnosis and treatments, today over three- quarters of children survive, but some types of cancer remain very difficult to cure. That's why the Baldrick's foundation supports research by raising awareness and funds at head-shaving events around the world. Together, we can conquer kid's cancer! I spent time with a new friend named Robert, I called Bobby we had so much fun watching magic trick's...these guy's are so good I'm still trying to figure out their magic. Remember to thank the man above for the little thing's that make us smile. I dedicate this story to millions effected by this disease. You can count on my support!!!!
